Fall fair this week­end

The Ra­mona Fall Fair takes place Satur­day. The fam­ily event will cel­e­brate its 128th year at the Ra­mona Hall, just out­side of Washago. Gates open at 10 a.m., with of­fi­cial open­ing cer­e­mony at 12 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is $6 per adult/se­nior, and free for kids. Food avail­able for pur­chase in­cludes ham­burg­ers, fries, the fair’s fa­mous meat pies, pea soup, onion rings and more. There will also be a li­censed beer garden. Kids’ games, ac­tiv­i­ties and com­pe­ti­tions in­clude a spell­ing bee, read­ing and speak­ing com­pe­ti­tions. Agri­cul­tural and craft dis­plays will be in the ex­hibit hall. A log­ging demon­stra­tion will al­low vis­i­tors to em­brace the yes­ter­year of work­ing horses and the log­ging in­dus­try. Ven­dors will be on site and there will be a silent auc­tion. The grand fi­nale event will be the light and heavy horse pull from 4 to 6:30 p.m (sanc­tioned by the On­tario Horse Pullers’ As­so­ci­a­tion). The Ra­mona Hall is lo­cated just south of Washago, at 2212 Fair­grounds Rd., four kilo­me­tres east off County Road 169.
