MAZDA MX-5 MIATA
ENGINE HORSEPOWER TORQUE DRIVETRAIN TRANSMISSION 2.0L I4 155 hp 148 lb-ft rear-wheel drive 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic
The hype is real: the Miata is back and better than ever. The MX-5 Miata finally revives its non-alphanumeric moniker that never really went away for its many fans, and is brand-new for 2016. Using a 2.0-liter four cylinder that produces 155 horsepower, a six-speed transmission, its smaller size and heavy use of aluminum help save on weight from its portlier predecessor. Don’t let to drop in horsepower over last year’s model fool you, the gearing will have you slapping through all six gears faster than you expected. The smaller size is also not a worry, as people up to six-foot-five can fit comfortably. Gone is the pricy hardtop option that also weighed it down, but you won’t want a hardtop – the soft top is just way too easy and fun to not be used.
