Oil won’t be around forever

-

Dear editor: I wish good luck to all children now and in the future that inherit Mother Earth if the Oil Can Harrys get their wish for a second pipeline from Alberta to B.C.

What comes next not if, but when, a massive oil spill takes place and the estimated 15,000 jobs are long gone?

I venture to say there are no cosmetics, plastic surgery or even a clue to restoring a once natural beautiful face of nature that hasn't room for more scars.

As far as the quote, "Let the bastards freeze in the dark,” submitted by Paul Crossley (Herald, Letters, March 12) it brought a smile to my face.

Many years ago, I delivered furnace fuel to many homes and business in Burnaby and New Westminster.

The switch to natural gas replaced oil burners and delivery of heating oil was on its way out.

My own tanker truck was under contract with a local co-op to deliver oil, diesel, stove oil and gasoline for their customers throughout the Fraser Valley.

You probably guessed by now that natural gas caught up to and beat Oil Can Harry to near extinction in home delivery.
