Aweekend of celebration was held to recognize the grand reopening of the newly-renovated Nature’s Fare Markets at 1770 Main Street in Penticton.

Nature’s Fare owner Alexa Monahan described it as “a work in progress,” that’s lasted nearly a year.

“We’re very excited,” Monahan said, Friday. “Our staff has worked extremely hard over the past 11 months. We wanted to create a fresh new health-food store for Penticton, something totally unique in the area. I think we’ve done a great job of accomplishing this.”

Store manager Alex Grant said nearly everything in the 10,000 square-foot store is new.

“We started with the bistro side of the store,” he said. “We completely gutted everything right down to the studs. We tore out the floor, there’s new plumbing, we rebuilt the kitchen from scratch.”

From there, he said, “We started going through the rest of the store. We painted it, there’s all new coolers everywhere, new shelving, new lighting. We closed the outside space to make it an inside seating area and added new signs and painted the outside.”

Nature’s Fare Markets, now in its 25th year, is an Okanagan-based company that’s family owned. There are six stores in the valley, plus two in the Lower Mainland. The head office and warehouse is located in Vernon.

The store at 1770 Main is one of two locations in Penticton. The other is located at 2210 Main Street. Both stores will continue to operate.

Special events were held at the store over the weekend which included a 15 per cent off sale, a DJ, draws and samples.

Penticton deputy mayor Helena Konanz, who cut the ribbon, praised Nature’s Fare Markets for investing in the community.

“It’s such a beautiful store, and to now have a second location, we appreciate all the work that’s gone into this and thank you for investing in the community,” Konanz said.
