Sensual Summer Reading

There are seasons to reading, and summertime reading brings a wide smile to the face of avid readers. It’s not just the stories publishers print this time of year, selected to delight and intrigue, but the addition of excellent and necessary props that go along summer reading.

The furniture turned so that sunlight hits the pages straight on. Something cold in a tall glass, so we don’t have to stop reading too often to refill it. A chair that, like well-designed shoes, settles the reader comfortably backwards. Furniture with arms that invite us to loop up a knee, or a padded settee in which we can turn upside down, feet overtop the back rest. Gravity makes it harder to sip while reading, but easier to smile.
