Blu­Met­ric Awarded $11.5M Stand­ing Of­fer

The Depart­ment of Na­tional De­fence has awarded a con­tract to Blu­Met­ric En­vi­ron­men­tal Inc., an in­te­grated prod­uct and ser­vice or­ga­ni­za­tion pro­vid­ing wa­ter treat­ment, val­ued at up to $11.5 mil­lion. Blu­Met­ric was se­lected to pro­vide Re­pair and Over­haul Ser­vices, Engineering sup­port and Field Ser­vice sup­port for the Cana­dian Navy’s Ship­board Re­verse Os­mo­sis De­sali­na­tion (SROD) sys­tems for up to 5 years.

The Con­tract is for a three-year pe­riod to­tal­ing $6.9 mil­lion with two pos­si­ble one-year ex­ten­sions of up to $ 2.3 mil­lion each year. The fi­nal amount spent in any given year is at DND’s dis­cre­tion, such amount vary­ing ac­cord­ing to the Navy’s needs. The Con­tract process pro­vides the Cana­dian Forces with im­me­di­ate re­sponse and sup­port to their equip­ment re­quire­ments. The Com­pany has been awarded sim­i­lar Con­tracts by DND in the past, in­clud­ing for the equip­ment in this new Con­tract and for the Army’s Re­verse Os­mo­sis Wa­ter Pu­rifi­ca­tion Units (ROWPU). Each frigate in the Cana­dian Navy has a star­board and port SROD that pro­duces drink­ing wa­ter and gen­er­alpur­pose wa­ter for the ship. The Cana­dian Navy’s wa­ter stan­dards are ex­tremely high, and it is es­sen­tial that dur­ing de­ploy­ments a re­li­able sup­ply of high qual­ity wa­ter is avail­able.
