HMCS Aca­dia Gets Fed­eral Sup­port

A con­tract val­ued at ap­prox­i­mately $11 mil­lion was awarded to the An­napo­lis Basin Con­fer­ence Cen­tre of Corn­wal­lis, Nova Sco­tia, to pro­vide the fa­cil­i­ties and ser­vices re­quired to op­er­ate HMCS Aca­dia, the largest Sea Cadet Sum­mer Train­ing Cen­tre in Canada, for nine weeks over the next three sum­mers, and to pro­vide year­round stor­age fa­cil­i­ties.

Im­por­tant gov­ern­ment in­vest­ments in the Cadet Pro­gram not only en­sure cadets con­tinue to have the best pos­si­ble sup­port for their train­ing, but help to sus­tain em­ploy­ment for Cana­di­ans and stim­u­late the econ­omy in Nova Sco­tian com­mu­ni­ties. This con­tract will re­main in ef­fect un­til March 31, 2016, and it is es­ti­mated that it will sus­tain 100 jobs in Corn­wal­lis.
