THE SEA KING 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS: DOCUMENTING OUR PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE
Well folks, we had some fun, and we’ve travelled back home. Now we’ll be asking your for reunion photos and stories! We're still looking for those photos and stories from your collections and memory banks. Our book preparations are coming along nicely, and we'd like to ensure we get all the input from you that you can send us, through the Sea King 50 website, our Facebook group, or even snail mail to the Shearwater Aviation Museum. Everything you contribute will find a permanent home at the museum after copying and returning the originals to you. Nothing is too big or too small for this one. So send us those stories and photos please, which will form part of the recorded history of this fine aircraft and the good people who fixed and flew them. So take a good look at this website and go to our Facebook group. There are places to deposit your information, articles and stories, anecdotes and other tales about the Sea Kings. We particularly require stories about what you are doing in today's Sea King operations. We're staring to get a pretty good look at what we used to do with the bird. Lots of laughs and great memories, but we need today's stories as well. You folks who are flying the helicopter today have so much to add. This entire celebration was is as much about you today as it is about the retirees who are assisting the Wing with planning for this event. This is all about a helicopter which has made such a tremendous contribution to aviation in Canada. It pioneered the large helicopter-small ship combination. It has contributed so much to Canada and elsewhere around the world, whether it was flood relief on the Prairies, earthquake relief in Haiti, anti-piracy and anti-drug running operations today or daring rescues at sea. It is quite a story and we want you to be part of it, as we continue to celebrate this wonderful helicopter's history and ongoing contributions to Canada and Canadians.
