Naval Re­servist With DART

Lieu­tenant-com­man­der Robert Brun­ner, the Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of HMCS CATARAQUI in Kingston, is in the Philip­pines with the Dis­as­ter As­sis­tance Re­sponse Team (DART). He is cur­rently em­ployed as the J9 Civil-Mil­i­tary Co­op­er­a­tion (CIMIC) Of­fi­cer for the DART. LCdr Brun­ner is the main point of contact be­tween the DART and in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions such as the UN and lo­cal dis­as­ter re­sponse or­ga­ni­za­tions.

In this role, he man­ages 15 Filipino Cana­dian Com­mu­nity Li­ai­son Of­fi­cers and aids with as­sess­ment of crit­i­cal in­di­ca­tors for the sta­tus of the mis­sion. He is the first Naval re­servist as­signed to DART on a long term ba­sis, and is proud to be rep­re­sent­ing the Naval Re­serve and the Royal Cana­dian Navy on DART and tak­ing part in the cur­rent op­er­a­tion in the Philip­pines.
