Legion Supports Granting Citizenship to “Lost Canadians”
The Royal Canadian Legion Dominion President, Gordon Moore, is pleased with the recent legislative changes proposed by the Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander on February 6th 2014 as they relate to War Brides and children of War Brides which, until now, many had been barred from obtaining Canadian citizenship.
“The introduction of Bill-C-24 Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act will allow War Brides and Children of War Brides to finally come home,” says Moore. “It is anticipated that this new legislation will address this great injustice and hopefully grant these ‘lost Canadians’ both Canadian Citizenship and all the rights afforded them as Canadians,” says Moore.
Mr. Moore sent a letter to the Prime Minister on September 4th 2013, to request a timely review of the facts surrounding War Brides as well as the children of War Brides.
