Battle of the Atlantic Museum in Duncan Closes March 1st

RCN News - - News - By John Weber

The Battle of Atlantic “Museum” in Duncan, B.C. owned by George Cruickshank closed March 1st. The museum's website was also shut down at that time.

It was a great and unique little Canadian naval museum with many artifacts from the German Navy, but was never really “open" to the public -- all the tours in the past few years have been “by appointment” only.

George will keep some “stuff”, but many items will be sold or returned to donors. The full-size replica of the U -889 bridge will be torn down. (too bad, so sad).

A large part of his Canadian submarine artifact display will be donated to the Naval and Military Museum at HMCS Naden and may be put on display in their permanent Canadian submarine history display.

I will move some of his website pages to my website (webberswarships.ca) in May.

It was a big part of George’s life, however, it was taking over his time.
