commended for his contributions to the introduction of the first-ever “Support Our Troops” vehicle licence plates in
Manitoba. LCdr (ret’d) Stiff was involved in the licence plate project from its inception, during his time as Commanding Officer of HMCS Chippawa, Winnipeg’s Naval Reserve Division. He was an integral part of developing the criteria for the scholarship portion of the program. Each plate costs $70, of which $30 goes to a scholarship fund for families of military members who attend postsecondary education at a college or university in Manitoba. The plates have a yellow “Support Our Troops” ribbon with a camouflage background and are now available throughout the province. LCdr Stiff was presented with one of the very first licence plates in the official unveiling on Canadian Armed Forces Day, June 7, 2015.
