A teacher was hav­ing trou­ble with his bank. Nei­ther the bank’s ac­cu­racy nor its mode of ex­pres­sion lived up to his stan­dards. The last straw ar­rived in the form of a let­ter from the bank that read:

“Your ac­count ap­pears to be over­drawn.”

The teacher wrote back: “Please write again when you are cer­tain.”
