Late punt se­cures win for Tar­tans over Roy­als

Jaxon Ford punted for a tiebreak­ing sin­gle with 24 sec­onds left in the fourth quar­ter to give the Camp­bell Tar­tans a 28-27 vic­tory over the Rif­fel Roy­als in Regina In­ter­col­le­giate Foot­ball League ac­tion Thurs­day.

Ben­nett Stusek had seven catches for 134 yards and two TDs for Camp­bell, which got three in­ter­cep­tions from Drew Lawrence, two from Ai­dan Mann, and one pick from Ford.

Tar­tans quar­ter­back Matt Rivers threw for two TDs and ran for an­other ma­jor. Rif­fel’s Avery Wag­ner threw two TD passes — both to Ethan Ball, who had six re­cep­tions for 129 yards — and ran for two scores.

Also on Thurs­day, the LeBoldus Golden Suns got 118 rush­ing yards and two touch­downs from La­rauche Akaf­fou en route to de­feat­ing the Miller Ma­raud­ers 21-7.

Miller scored on a 10-yard run by Dallen Keen. Michael Clow had two sacks for the Ma­raud­ers.

In an­other game on Thurs­day, Jor­dan Hof­fart threw three TD passes to lead the Win­ston Knoll Wolver­ines to a 40-7 vic­tory over the O’Neill Ti­tans.

The Wolver­ines’ D’Sean Mimbs caught eight passes for 150 yards and two TDs. Win­ston Knoll’s Chris­tian Ka­tende rushed for 101 yards and an­other ma­jor. Kolten Bitz had a TD catch for O’Neill.
