York Regional Police is seeking public assistance in identifying suspects after a safe full of firearms was stolen from a Markham home near Woodbine Avenue and Elgin Mills Road East. The safe is five feet by two feet and was reported missing in early April after a homeowner returned from vacation and found his house broken into. The safe was then found in Ajax the next day and has been seized by the police for forensic identification purposes.

On a Monday morning in midApril, a male suspect entered a bank located at Highway 7 and Bayview Avenue in Richmond Hill carrying a firearm. He demanded cash from the teller and left the bank with a quantity of cash. He was last seen heading east on Highway 7 by foot. No one was physically injured during the incident, and investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking leads or witnesses from the public to come forward with evidence.

A female suspect has been charged in connection with a $395,000 employment fraud that occurred in Vaughan. York Regional Police officers began the investigation in July 2017. The accused was a payroll specialist at a technology-based company in Vaughan at the time. Between 2015 and 2017, she is alleged to have reactivated a former employee’s payroll, changed the deposit information to her own personal account, increased the hourly pay rate and added numerous bonuses over the two years.
