IN­DI­VID­U­ALS, COM­MU­NITY GROUPS AND OR­GA­NI­ZA­TIONS WHO WORK TIRE­LESSLY TO IM­PROVE THE SAFETY OF ON­TARIO’S ROADS AT THE COM­MU­NITY AND PRO­VIN­CIAL LEV­ELS WERE HON­OURED BY THE ON­TARIO MIN­ISTRY OF TRANS­PORTA­TION AT AN IM­PRES­SIVE EVENT HELD IN KLEINBURG ON JUNE 13

Trans­porta­tion Min­is­ter Steven Del Duca con­grat­u­lated the Road Safety Achieve­ment Award re­cip­i­ents se­lected by an in­de­pen­dent panel of judges with rep­re­sen­ta­tives drawn from gov­ern­ment, pub­lic health, in­jury pre­ven­tion and road safety dis­ci­plines. The 2016 award re­cip­i­ents in­cluded Roz Son­shine (Vol­un­teer), OPP Con­sta­ble Beth Ethier (Pro­fes­sional), Timiskam­ing Bus Bud­dies (Part­ner­ship), Man­i­toulin Broad­cast­ing (Me­dia), ERB Group of Com­pa­nies (Cor­po­rate Lead­er­ship) and Pledge to Ig­nore – York Re­gion (Ini­tia­tive of the Year).

A spe­cial Life­time Achieve­ment Award was given to Anne Leonard, for­mer Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor of ar­rive alive Drive Sober. The Min­istry’s Road User Safety Di­vi­sion - Di­vi­sional Part­ner­ship Award was pre­sented to Ross Mcken­zie from Water­loo Cen­tre for Au­to­mo­tive Re­search.

The Road Safety Achieve­ment Awards were es­tab­lished in 1996 by the min­istry to rec­og­nize excellence in the pro­mo­tion of road safety aware­ness in On­tario.
