Olivia Kim can be credited with

bringing the cool factor to Nordstrom. As director of creative projects, she’s been able to launch several concept shops within the retail chain, such as SPACE, exposing customers to fashion-forward collections from new and cult-favourite designers such as Simone Rocha and Roksanda Ilincic. This spring, Kim added a new layer to SPACE at Nordstrom called SPACE Lab, which she describes “an incubator to recognize and support new designers.” Each season, SPACE Lab showcases a new crop of exclusive, under-the-radar design talent. For the debut season, Kim wanted to find of a group of designers with varying aesthetic points of view. “I didn’t go into it with a set criteria, but I knew I wanted to find five truly emerging brands that have different audiences and different messages in what they are doing.” The five brands Kim landed on for spring: Vejas, Dilara Findikoglu, Eckhaus Latta, A.W.A.K.E., and Eric Schlösberg. Here, Kim speaks about why she chose these visionary labels.
