Grief, be­reave­ment peer sup­port group be­gin­ning April 5

If lo­cal res­i­dents need help cop­ing with the death of a loved one, sup­port is avail­able. Mem­bers of the Tantra­mar Hospice Pal­lia­tive Care Or­ga­ni­za­tion (TH­PCO) Inc. are fa­cil­i­tat­ing a grief and be­reave­ment peer sup­port group in Sackville be­gin­ning on Thurs­day evening, April 5, and run­ning for seven weeks.

The group’s goals in­clude pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion, be­ing sup­port­ive and un­der­stand­ing, and help­ing each other work to­ward the pos­i­tive res­o­lu­tion of grief in a con­fi­den­tial and safe en­vi­ron­ment. There is no fee for this group.

This grief and be­reave­ment peer sup­port group is open to any­one who has ex­pe­ri­enced the death of a loved one, in­clud­ing those where the death was sud­den.

Talk­ing about grief with oth­ers is a good way to help come to terms with a loss.

Although any­one is wel­come, it is ad­vised that peo­ple who are griev­ing a very re­cent loss - within the past two months - wait un­til the next group is of­fered.

In the mean­time, one-on-one peer sup­port is avail­able, pro­vided by TH­PCO vol­un­teers.
