Au­di­tions to be held for sum­mer act­ing po­si­tions

This sum­mer, to cel­e­brate the 250th an­niver­sary of the found­ing of Sackville Town­ship, there will be a com­mu­nity play pro­duced, ten­ta­tively ti­tled “Found-ing”.

The play will fea­ture events around the years lead­ing up to, and fol­low­ing, the found­ing in 1762. It will fo­cus on the hu­man play­ers and their tri­als and tri­umphs, and will be ful­l­length, with pe­riod cos­tumes and live mu­sic. Per­for­mance dates are ten­ta­tively set for July 18-22 (around the an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions).

Au­di­tions will be held on Thurs­day, March 29, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., on Fri­day March 30, from 2-4 p.m., and on Satur­day, March 31, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Boul­tenhouse Her­itage Cen­tre at 29 B Queen’s Road. No prepa­ra­tion is nec­es­sary for au­di­tions, and peo­ple of all ages, back­grounds and ex­pe­ri­ence lev­els are wel­come. Those with Aca­dian and Na­tive an­ces­try are es­pe­cially en­cour­aged to come out. Times can be re­served by con­tact­ing the Tantra­mar Her­itage Trust (THT), or peo­ple can just sign up upon ar­rival at those times. A sec­ond set of au­di­tions will also be held on April 14 and 15. All per­form­ers will re­ceive an hon­o­rar­ium based on the size of their role.

The play is be­ing pro­duced by THT and pre­sented with in­put from/in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Live Bait Young Com­pany, the Town of Sackville, the Per­form­ers’ Co., Wind­sor Theatre and other groups. It is funded by the Town of Sackville, Re­nais­sance Sackville, the Depart­ment of Cana­dian Her­itage and oth­ers.
