Auditions to be held for summer acting positions
This summer, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of Sackville Township, there will be a community play produced, tentatively titled “Found-ing”.
The play will feature events around the years leading up to, and following, the founding in 1762. It will focus on the human players and their trials and triumphs, and will be fulllength, with period costumes and live music. Performance dates are tentatively set for July 18-22 (around the anniversary celebrations).
Auditions will be held on Thursday, March 29, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., on Friday March 30, from 2-4 p.m., and on Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Boultenhouse Heritage Centre at 29 B Queen’s Road. No preparation is necessary for auditions, and people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Those with Acadian and Native ancestry are especially encouraged to come out. Times can be reserved by contacting the Tantramar Heritage Trust (THT), or people can just sign up upon arrival at those times. A second set of auditions will also be held on April 14 and 15. All performers will receive an honorarium based on the size of their role.
The play is being produced by THT and presented with input from/in collaboration with the Live Bait Young Company, the Town of Sackville, the Performers’ Co., Windsor Theatre and other groups. It is funded by the Town of Sackville, Renaissance Sackville, the Department of Canadian Heritage and others.
