Midgic man arrested for careless use of firearm, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
A 31-year-old Midgic man was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 27, for careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle during a special traffic operation by the Sackville RCMP.
RCMP, with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, checked eastbound traffic on the Transcanada Highway last Wednesday for a four-hour period between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. just outside of Sackville.
Several Motor Vehicle Act violations were detected during the operation. Some of the infractions included: no current inspection certificate, expired vehicle registration, no valid insurance and no valid driver’s licence. Some vehicles were towed as a result of not being mechanically safe for the road. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts by the RCMP to make sure drivers are aware of the rules of the road and to prevent serious injuries and fatalities on New Brunswick roads.
The Midgic man who was arrested Wednesday was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
