CMA honours former Sackville surgeon – Former Sackville surgeon Dr. Gordon Ferguson was one of two New Brunswick physicians honoured by the Canadian Medical Association in 1993.
Ferguson, who was at the time serving as chief executive office of the New Brunswick Extra-mural Hospital and Dr. Victor Mclaughlin of Moncton were elected to senior membership in their national professional body. CMA senior members are selected on the basis of distinguished medical careers and on contributions to both the profession and the community. A native of Ireland, Ferguson came to New Brunswick in 1953 following post-graduate medical studies in England and Sweden. He practiced surgery in Sackville until 1971 when he assumed the responsibilities of medical director of Medicare New Brunswick.
