Sackville excluded from plan to reorganize police forces – Tantramar MLA Marilyn Trenholme said Sackville would have its own police force for a long time to come.

“There is nothing in the future being considered otherwise,” she in early October 1993, almost a week after it was learned that Sackville was one of 13 municipalities that would maintain its own police force.

Solicitor-general Bruce Smith had recently announced the launch of a three-stage program that would see smaller police forces amalgamated with larger ones, reorganizing them into six regional forces: Codiac (Greater Moncton), Miramichi (NewcastleChatham and area), Madawaska, York, Fundy and Chaleur.
