Man charged in serious collision south of city

-

A 30-year-old man has been charged with leaving a stop sign before it was safe to do so after his vehicle collided with another, sending two people to hospital with serious injuries Sunday morning.

At 11:30 a.m. Saskatoon RCMP, an RCMP collision analyst, Dundurn Fire Department, first responders and ambulance teams attended a Highway 11 crash that left two people seriously injured.

The crash happened when a Dodge Dakota crossed east from a grid road, going across the two southbound lanes of Highway 11 some 18 kilometres south of Saskatoon.

A Lexus going south hit the Dakota and then rolled over, ending up in the middle of the two southbound lanes.

A 66-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman were removed from the Lexus and brought to Royal University Hospital with serious injuries.

The two people in the Dakota — a 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman — were not injured. The man — who was driving the Dakota — has since been charged.

The investigation is ongoing.
