Jeep has announced the next-generation Wrangler, set to make its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. Jeep kept details on all the engine and transmission specifications to itself, but here’s what we do know. The new Wrangler will have more safety features and advanced, fuel-efficient powertrains. Aerodynamics will be improved and there will be “a convenient fold-down windshield for off-road purists, even more open-air freedom, and dozens of different door, top and windshield combinations.”

In terms of powertrains, here’s what has been rumoured so far: a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 3.6-L Pentastar V-6 engine, and down the road, a 3.0-L turbodiesel V6. Beyond that, there is no official word on available transmissions for any of the engines, however a mix of manual and automatic is possible.
