Battlefords RCMP probe fake money complaints
RCMP are looking for three people accused of trying to pass off fake currency in the Battlefords.
Several complaints from businesses about the funny money, counterfeit $50 and $100 bills, have been reported to RCMP with people reportedly trying to use the cash to purchase “small inexpensive items with large denomination currency.”
Police say the bills were of “poor quality ” and the business involved noticed they were fake before the transaction was complete.
The men believed to be involved are described as roughly six-feet in height, between the ages of 25 and 30, with slim builds. At the time, they were said to be wearing hoodies and hats, with both men having their hoods up.
Another complaint was received after a female purchased fuel with a fake $50 bill. Police say it was after the transaction staff noticed the bill was of “very poor quality and clearly a fake.”
Police say the suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
