2013 Spring Best of Va­ri­etal Wine Awards


Just in time for warmer weather and BBQ sea­son — this rub works great on red meats and chicken. We sub­sti­tute sweet smoked pa­prika for the plain pa­prika which lends a won­der­ful smoky flavour! The name of the recipe comes from its cre­ator, Todd of Smok­ing­Meat­Fo­rums.com.

Makes 2 1/3 cups

1 cup sugar 1/2 cup pa­prika 2 tbsp coarsely ground black pep­per 2 tbsp lemon pep­per 2 tbsp kosher salt 2 tbsp chili pow­der 2 tbsp gar­lic pow­der 2 tbsp onion pow­der 2 tbsp cayenne pep­per In a medium-sized bowl, com­bine all the in­gre­di­ents with your hands. Store in a re­seal­able jar or con­tainer.
