Blazers over Kanata in a flurry of cards
The Blazers U-16B played their second game on home turf against the Kanata Team and prevailed by a score of 2-1. This game saw the referee distributing six cards to both teams. The Seaway Blazers had to defend themselves with only 10 players for the last 20 minutes. The Blazers easily took control of the game in the first half with a huge ball possession dominance. The Blazers were rewarded at the 34th minute when Logan Shaw redirected a ball from the foot of Shayne Lefebvre-Lalonde with a header that mystified the goalkeeper. The first half ended 1-0. The Blazers continued their good play in the second half but could not capitalize on several opportunities. Kanata came back into the game by scoring a goal on a direct kick from close proximity to make it 1-1. Playing with one less player in the last minutes of the game, the Blazers did not want to settle for the draw and were putting pressure in the offensive zone. This resulted in a goal by Logan Shaw, his second of the night on a blast from the penalty box area at the 90th minute. Joel Levac provided the helper on this goal. The Blazers went on to win 2-1. Goalkeeper Tyler Young made some key saves in the second half to keep his team in the game.
