Hospice butterfly release June 24
CORNWALL, Ontario- The third annual Wings of Love Butterfly Release will be happening this year at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. The event is open to anyone who has lost a loved one and will be held at Nav Canada.
“It doesn’t have to be for someone who passed away at Hospice, it’s open to the public,” said the Fundraising Coordinator Sandy Collette.
Butterflies will cost $30 and tax receipts of $20 will be provided. This year there are 200 butterflies available. Last year’s event raised $4,200.
Mike Mcanany and Melissa Dionne will be singing before the butterflies are released. “It’s quite an emotional event,” said Collette. The painted lady butterflies are being provided from Monsieur Papillon in Quebec.
“We’re just hoping for good weather this year. Last year it just poured, we had a twenty-minute window (to release the butterflies),” said Collette.
