Barriers save lives

Sentinel-Review (Woodstock) - - OPINION -

Regarding the article Killer crash charges boost drive for 401 safety barriers (Sept. 30).

I would not be sitting here today reading The London Free Press if it were not for the barrier separating Highway 401 lanes heading east to Toronto.

Last winter during a snowstorm, a vehicle in the oncoming lane lost control and slammed into the concrete barrier just as we passed. Other than the shock of witnessing it, we continued on without missing a beat. If the barrier had not been there, it would have been an entirely different, life-shattering story.

Accidents happen, but if we can prevent more from happening on our highways, it’s a no-brainer. Bring on the wall.
