Supreme Team
Louis Vuitton just made the only collaboration that matters this summer
KIM JONES, Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, has a history of creative collaborations — think of his use of Christopher Nemeth’s rope prints in FW15 as a tribute to the late artist, or the surreal animals the Chapman brothers dreamed up for SS17. But his new partnership is on another level completely — a streetwear-inspired menswear collection that shook the fashion world with a single word: Supreme. Why the hype? The New York brand is an arbiter of downtown cool, that has built a fanatic following since its founding in 1994. Supreme’s stark white logo was given pride of place on red and black Epi leather bags, tagged onto the Parisian house’s iconic trunks and sneakers, woven into the LV monogram on denim shirts and scarves, and also appeared on a host of unexpected accessories like baseball bats and skateboards. The only downside? The collection is limited. You’d better start lining up now.
