It is the root that pro­duces those pesky burrs that get stuck all over the cuffs of your pants in the fall. Did you know you can also eat the stems of the root? Pop­u­lar in the Far East (China, Ja­pan) the Burdock Root is renowned “for be­ing one of na­ture’s great skin cleansers and one of the best blood pu­ri­fiers around. Burdock root has been tra­di­tion­ally used as a blood pu­ri­fier to clear the blood­stream of tox­ins.” It also rids the body of nas­ties by pro­mot­ing “per­spi­ra­tion and the re­lease of tox­ins from the body.”
