Three new characters for the Pioneer Trail

- By Ocean Francoeur Special to The Record Frontier Animal Society

Ayer’s Cliff, Hatley and Stanstead will now be a part of the The Cultural Dialogue Table of the Coaticook MRC (TCCC) Pioneer Trail. The trail will welcome Reverend Charles James Stewart, the first Anglican pastor of Hatley and Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Quebec City, historian Monique Nadeau-saumier and Dr. Henrietta Ballbanting.

The new characters will be life sized silhouettes cut out of corten steel panel. Like the other 22 pioneers of the trail, they will be placed in a carefully chosen area and equipped with a sound box, which will offer a little piece of history, both in English and in French, to curious visitors.

The inauguration will occur on July 9. The opening ceremony will begin in Ayer’s Cliff, with buses offering tours for the occasion. Each site will offer snacks and the tour will end at 2 p.m. at the Granit Central Museum where attendees will be able so sip on some refreshments.

Anyone interested must reserve a spot for the tour before July 4. Bus tours cost $20. For further information or to reserve, call your local municipality or the following numbers:
