Climbers prepare for CHUS Foundation’s Acontango Challenge
On Sunday, the final group training session for hikers participating in the 2017 Acotango Challenge for the benefit of the Fondation du CHUS. The group assembled at the Mont Gleason station to complete five ascents in a maximum time of three hours. When they fly to Bolivia in October to climb Acontango they will face a summit that reaches over 6,000 meters in elevation.
Among the group were Anne Mondoloni (Sherbrooke), Catherine Allard (St-denis-de-brompton), Gaétane Fillion (Sherbrooke), Isabelle Lussier (Sherbrooke), Jean-françois Pion (Kingsey Falls) and Steve Gosselin (Sherbrooke). Marc-andré Leclair and Katrine Rose-maltais (Montreal), will also be part of the Bolivian adventure that runs from October 8 to 21, but were unable to attend the practice run.
The Acotango Challenge is a charity sports challenge hoping to raise $50,000 for the Fondation du CHUS for the intensive care unit at Hôpital Fleurimont.
