Climbers pre­pare for CHUS Foun­da­tion’s Acon­tango Chal­lenge

On Sun­day, the fi­nal group train­ing ses­sion for hik­ers par­tic­i­pat­ing in the 2017 Acotango Chal­lenge for the ben­e­fit of the Fon­da­tion du CHUS. The group as­sem­bled at the Mont Glea­son sta­tion to com­plete five as­cents in a max­i­mum time of three hours. When they fly to Bo­livia in Oc­to­ber to climb Acon­tango they will face a sum­mit that reaches over 6,000 meters in el­e­va­tion.

Among the group were Anne Mon­doloni (Sher­brooke), Cather­ine Al­lard (St-de­nis-de-bromp­ton), Gaé­tane Fil­lion (Sher­brooke), Is­abelle Lussier (Sher­brooke), Jean-françois Pion (Kingsey Falls) and Steve Gos­selin (Sher­brooke). Marc-an­dré Leclair and Ka­trine Rose-mal­tais (Montreal), will also be part of the Bo­li­vian ad­ven­ture that runs from Oc­to­ber 8 to 21, but were un­able to at­tend the prac­tice run.

The Acotango Chal­lenge is a char­ity sports chal­lenge hop­ing to raise $50,000 for the Fon­da­tion du CHUS for the in­ten­sive care unit at Hôpi­tal Fleu­ri­mont.

The pub­lic is in­vited to en­cour­age par­tic­i­pants by mak­ing do­na­tions on the Chal­lenge web­site at www.de­fi­a­cotan­gochus.org.
