Mayor was un­demo­cratic at Septem­ber 5 meet­ing

At TBL coun­cil meet­ing held on Sept. 5 in West Brome, af­ter hav­ing been asked five or six ques­tions, Mayor Bur­combe was quick and un­demo­cratic to tell the au­di­ence of ap­prox­i­mately 65 peo­ple not to ask ques­tions — that he would no longer take any more ques­tions con­cern­ing the pig slaugh­ter­ing project. He told the au­di­ence he un­der­stood the mes­sage, but would let it fol­low its course.

When asked who the de­vel­oper was, he quickly re­sponded that he’d rather keep it anony­mous for the time be­ing. Another ques­tion to all of coun­cil was, did they ap­prove this slaugh­ter­house project? Their an­swer was that they did not know enough about the project to make a de­ci­sion. Yet they had enough in­for­ma­tion to vote on a res­o­lu­tion to present the pro­moter’s de­mand to the CPTAQ. Makes you won­der how many may have for­got­ten ex­actly what they
