Que­bec re­ports 582 new COVID-19 cases

The most re­cent data on the evo­lu­tion of COVID-19 in Que­bec show 582 new cases, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of peo­ple in­fected in the prov­ince to 69,670.

In the Estrie Re­gion, 25 new cases were re­ported in the last day, bring­ing the lo­cal to­tal to 1,641.

No new death oc­curred in the last 24 hours, but one death which oc­curred be­tween Sept. 17 and Sept. 22 was added, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of deaths in Que­bec to 5,810.

The num­ber of hos­pi­tal­iza­tions in­creased by six com­pared to the pre­vi­ous day, for a cu­mu­la­tive to­tal of 184. Among those, the num­ber of peo­ple in in­ten­sive care in­creased by one, for a to­tal of 31.

The num­ber of COVID-19 tests done on Sept. 22, the last date for which data is avail­able, was 27,303 for a to­tal of 2,164,247 tests in Que­bec.

Ac­cord­ing to the Que­bec Public Health In­sti­tute web­site, 59,943 peo­ple have re­cov­ered from the novel coronaviru­s.

As trees start to turn across the Town­ships, the re­gion’s parks and out­door cen­tres have opened their gates to all those look­ing to take in all the fall fo­liage. While any­one can en­joy the beauty of the leaves any­where there are trees, for free, many of the lo­cal ski cen­tres make a grand event of the chang­ing colours ev­ery year.

In the Ma­gog-or­ford re­gion, the pop­u­la­tion is in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in the an­nual “Flam­bée des couleurs” on week­ends un­til the 18 of Oc­to­ber.

Fall be­gins at Owl’s Head this com­ing Satur­day and con­tin­ues un­til Oc­to­ber 12, and Mont Sut­ton is fol­low­ing a sim­i­lar sched­ule.

Due to the COVID-19 pan­demic, changes had to be made to the way many of th­ese events usu­ally op­er­ate. The health mea­sures rec­om­mended by gov­ern­ment au­thor­i­ties will be ap­plied at each site to en­sure the
