Aug. 31, the name of the game for Men’s Day golf event was “quota points”, played on the back nine that boasts three par-5 holes in­clud­ing the dan­ger­ous 17th with all kinds of trou­ble wait­ing to snag balls and cause havoc with scores.

But Der­ryl Urstadt man­aged to avoid most of the prob­lem ar­eas to ac­cu­mu­late 16 quota points through­out the nine holes and win First place in the A-flight. Gerry Call also had a de­cent round as with 13 points and took Sec­ond place. Larry Cur­tis and Lou Bezaire tied for third place in the flight with 12 points each.

In the B-flight, Hugh Mor­ri­son was back, scor­ing 15 points and win­ning First place in the flight. In C-flight, Dave Ezechiels earned 12 points on the back nine and won First Place, fol­lowed by Fabian Lib­bus with eight points, and Rick Robin­son with four points.

Larry Cur­tis won the clos­est to the pin com­pe­ti­tion on the 13th hole, and Bar­rie Rob­son sunk the Long­est Putt on #15.

The Men’s Match Play even fin­ished with con­grat­u­la­tions to Rocky Weller who won the fi­nal match in a very close game.

So what else is new? More rain on Se­nior Men’s Day cut play to the front nine holes. That was no prob­lem for those who came out in the afternoon, but um­brel­las and golf gloves were needed in the Like us on morn­ing. Only gross scores will be cal­cu­lated this week.

Der­ryl Urstadt had a fine front nine, card­ing a 39 to win First Low Gross in the A-flight. Phil Hunt and John Hale were third, only one stroke back to share Sec­ond Low Gross with iden­ti­cal scores of 40, fol­lowed by Mike Pitzen in fourth spot with a 41.

In B-flight, Peter Welford took First Low Gross hon­ours with a round of 44, fol­lowed by Gord Moore who was only one stroke back with a 45. Rick Robin­son and Bert Tripp shared Low Gross with scores of 47.

Rick Robin­son won the Clos­est to the Pin con­test on the fifth hole and Der­ryl Urstadt sunk the Long­est Putt on #7.
