Death with Dig­nity in Tiver­ton Huron Shores Hos­pice fundrais­ing suc­cess

a one-bed res­i­den­tial hos­pice suite could open within months at Tiver­ton Park Manor, thanks to a wildly suc­cess­ful fundraiser sept. 28 at Kin­car­dine’s Pavil­ion where 170 sup­port­ers helped raise $136,000 for the new huron shores hos­pice, de­signed to of­fer the right to die with dig­nity, ac­cord­ing to dun­can hawthorne, for­mer ceO of bruce Power, who, with his wife, do­nated an­other $30,000 for a to­tal of $90,000.

Or­ga­niz­ers said the money will al­low them to open the doors of the ini­tial one-bed suite as soon as the poli­cies, vol­un­teers and fur­nish­ings are in place, po­ten­tially by the end of 2017. Fundrais­ing will con­tinue so a sec­ond suite can be opened - that re­quires $175,000 for two years of op­er­at­ing and cap­i­tal costs to fur­nish the suite.
