Beavers mark Remembrance Day

Shoreline Beacon - - Church Services -

Two gripping accounts of the first-hand savageness of war held members of the Port Elgin Beaver Colony spell-bound at their Nov. 6 meeting as they prepared for remembrance Day.

The accounts — one a poem written by a Veteran and the other an account of battle field deaths of young buddies — were selected by leaders to read to the Beavers, who despite their young ages, were more sombre than normal and “awestruck” by the war stories.

The Beavers also coloured a remembrance Day picture and made magnetic poppies using paper muffin wrappers and Popsicle sticks.
