Southampton residents uninjured in house fire
Two Southampton residents, a mother and son, ran to safely escape a house fire nov. 30 that engulfed the rear of their Knechtel St. residence.
Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson said they were called out at 9:30 p.m. and found an active fire in a porch area at the rear of the home.
“The fire was suppressed quickly and overhaul began quickly to save the rest of the structure. The main part of the structure is intact,” Eagleson said in a Dec. 1 interview, adding the incident remains under investigation.“
He said power was disconnected so the residents can not stay in their home, but are being helped by family, friends, neighbours and victim’s assistance services.
“We were able to get them some clothes and some immediate needs met, but they are out of their home at this point.. and we getting them some help at this difficult time,” Eaglson said.
