Thom Perkins of New Hamp­shire spent a long ca­reer run­ning the largest cross­coun­try-ski trail sys­tem in the eastern U.S. He was awarded Life­time Achieve­ment awards from both the North Amer­i­can Snows­ports Jour­nal­ists As­so­ci­a­tion and Ski NH. A found­ing mem­ber and a board mem­ber emer­i­tus of the Cross Coun­try Ski Ar­eas As­so­ci­a­tion, Perkins was named as one of 25 Nordic Heroes in North Amer­ica. He was chief of com­pe­ti­tion for in­ter­na­tional, na­tional, re­gional and lo­cal cross-coun­try-ski races. Perkins' fam­ily phi­los­o­phy was “If there was snow on the ground, there were skis on your feet.” He loves ski­ing down frozen rivers. Perkins is cur­rently the ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of Loon Echo Land Trust in Bridg­ton, Me., and is a pro­fes­sional mu­si­cian who per­forms with his wife.
