Na­tional Craft Con­fer­ence com­ing to Lunen­burg

The Cana­dian Crafts Fed­er­a­tion and Craft Nova Sco­tia will host Place­mak­ing 2018: The Unique Con­nec­tion Be­tween Craft, Com­mu­nity + Tourism in Cape Bre­ton, Hal­i­fax and Lunen­burg from

Oct. 10 to 15.

Mem­bers of the craft com­mu­nity from across Canada will gather in Lunen­burg on Oct. 14. This con­fer­ence ex­plores the ques­tion, “What does craft look like in re­la­tion to com­mu­nity?,” high­light­ing the role of con­tem­po­rary craft cul­ture in strength­en­ing and en­cour­ag­ing com­mu­nity de­vel­op­ment.

On this day, panel dis­cus­sions will take place at the Lunen­burg School of the Arts, fea­tur­ing the honourable Pa­tri­cia Bovey, in­de­pen­dent se­na­tor for Man­i­toba, and a noted art cu­ra­tor.

“The Lunen­burg School of the Arts has be­come a bea­con for Lunen­burg to at­tract the na­tional craft com­mu­nity,” said the Lunen­burg School of the Arts founder se­na­tor Wil­fred Moore.
