Or­ga­niz­ers re­flect on suc­cess­ful mu­sic fes­ti­val

The 2009 Swift Cur­rent & District Mu­sic Fes­ti­val was an­other ma­jor suc­cess, with over 500 en­tries par­tic­i­pat­ing in the three week long fes­ti­val.

A pair of recog­ni­tion events wrapped up the 2009 event, with fes­ti­val or­ga­niz­ers host­ing two Awards and Xtrav­a­ganza Cer­e­monies at the SCCHS Cafe­te­ria on April 5. About 120 awards were pre­sented and 20 per­form­ers were show­cased at the af­ter­noon and evening pro­grams. Also show­cased were four guest per­form­ers, Justine Shaw, Terra Regier, Rachelle Patzer and Janelle Orcher­ton, all alumni of Swift Cur­rent mu­sic fes­ti­vals who have con­tin­ued with their mu­sic to­day, at school, and in their com­mu­nity.

Dur­ing in­ter­mis­sion a pow­erpoint pre­sen­ta­tion was shown, start­ing with a band photo dat­ing back to 1928 and end­ing with pho­tos from this year’s fes­ti­val.

The Swift Cur­rent and District Mu­sic Fes­ti­val at­tracted over 500 en­tries and an­other 100 plus vol­un­teers, with events hosted in eight dif­fer­ent fa­cil­i­ties and the fes­ti­val uti­lized six ad­ju­di­ca­tors.

Or­ga­niz­ers ex­tend thanks to their many com­mu­nity and busi­ness spon­sors, along with thanks to the me­dia for mak­ing all the win­ners feel spe­cial by post­ing re­sults from the fes­ti­val.
