Guggen­berger head­ing to the Memo­rial Cup

For­mer Swift Cur­rent Bron­cos goal­tender Mark Guggen­berger will be play­ing in the 2009 Memo­rial Cup in Ri­mouski, Que­bec. Guggen­berger, who was dealt to the Rocket at the trade dead­line, fin­ished the play­offs with a 16-5-1 record, a 2.36 goals against av­er­age, and a .907 save per­cent­age as the Rock­ets knocked off the Kam­loops Blaz­ers, Tri-City Amer­i­cans, Van­cou­ver Giants, and Cal­gary Hit­men to earn the right to rep­re­sent the West­ern Hockey League at the Memo­rial Cup for the fourth time in seven years.

The Rock­ets, who’s coach­ing staff also in­cludes Swift Cur­rent na­tive Ryan Cuth­bert, will open the tour­na­ment Fri­day against the host Ri­mouski Oceanic. Mon­day the Rock­ets will face the QMJHL cham­pi­ons Tues­day the Rock­ets will face the On­tario Hockey League cham­pion Wind­sor Spit­fires in their fi­nal round robin game.
