Rodeo action about to heat up

The Cana­dian Cow­boys As­so­ci­a­tion Rodeo cir­cuit is al­most ready to emerge from a one month break for seed­ing across the prairies and a num­ber of South­west com­peti­tors are in the mid­dle of some heated races atop the Budlight CCA stand­ings.

Bracken’s Ry­lan Geiger leads all Sad­dle Bronc rid­ers with 2,306.90 points, well ahead of sec­ond-place Travis Reay with 1,370.76.

Maple Creek’s Tyler Gilchrist sits sev­enth with 340.86, while Gull Lake’s Kyreon Geiger is ninth with 269.10.

In Bare­back Rid­ing Pi­apot’s Brady Ber­tram sits in ninth spot with 192.11 points. Regina’s Ty Tay­potat leads the way with 976.58 points.

Shau­navon’s Tan­ner Alle­mand sits eighth-pace in the Bull Rid­ing stand­ings.

In Tie Down Rop­ing Swift Cur­rent’s Kevin Folk isn’t far off the pace in third spot with 953.70 points, while Blaine Switzer sits eighth with 461 points.

A pair of South­west rid­ers are in the top 10 Ladies Bar­rel Racing stand­ings led by Maple Creek’s Kerry Maynes in sev­enth. In eight spot is Ste­wartVal­ley’s Dan­nielle Dinius with 818 points.

Cabri’s Bari Phillips leads the Ju­nior Girls Bar­rel Racing stand­ings with 421.81 points, while Demi Phillips sits sev­enth with 101.56 points.

Next week­end the CCA cir­cuit will hit the South­west at the Dean An­thony Memo­rial Rodeo in Mankota on May 29-30.
