Continuation of DBA Tree Lighting tradition appreciated

Southwest Booster - - OPINION - Elinor Retvedt and Alice McConnell Swift Current

To the editor: We would like to thank the Downtown Business Association and The City of Swift Current for the tremendous job they have done maintaining the beautiful Christmas tree located in the Market Square.

Some 25 years ago, we were convenors for the BID Downtown Christmas Promotion. When we approached Mayor Len Stein about the possibility of purchasing a heirloom Christmas tree, he was so enthused that we ordered it immediately so we would have it for the 1988/1989 season. To our delight, the tree arrived in time for Christmas festivities.

We were thrilled with the Christmas tree that year as we still are. The enthusiasm of Mr and Mrs Claus and the elves have done a wonderful job through the years.

Again, thank you Swift Current and The Downtown Business Association. You are doing a great job!

Merry Christmas to Everyone!
