Quick response helps children enjoy park during winter months

Southwest Booster - - OPINION -

To the editor: We would like to send a big thank you to the City Parks and Rec Department for all they do throughout the year to keep our parks beautiful and user friendly.

As DayCare Providers in the city, we have many different ages of children in our care and love to frequent Riverside Park for outside play time together. During nicer weather, we can be found there almost every morning and most after- noons enjoying all that Riverside Park has to offer.

After a long cold spell and lots of snow, we were not able to frequent the park as often as usual. Due to the recent warmer temperatures, we started to meet up again and were finding it very difficult to get our dayhome babies and toddlers through the deep snow.

A couple phone calls to the Parks and Rec Department later and they had cleared out the South Parking Lot and a path to the playground which is making it so much easier for us to get our little guys and gals to the playground equipment.

It is great to see how much this City Department works to help out even our smallest citizens and for that we definitely thank you!
