Atom Bron­cos wrap up top spot in reg­u­lar sea­son

The Swift Cur­rent Tar­pon En­ergy Bron­cos wrapped up the top spot in the South East Atom Tier 1 Hockey League reg­u­lar sea­son with two wins over the vis­it­ing Melville Mil­lion­aires over the weekend.

The Bron­cos opened the weekend with a 7-2 win Satur­day and fol­lowed up with an 8-1 win Sun­day to im­prove to 15-2-1 on the sea­son. The Swift Cur­rent Atom Bron­cos were at a 30-team tour­na­ment the pre­vi­ous weekend and fin­ished with three wins and two losses.

Swift Cur­rent opened the tour­na­ment with a 10-3 win over the Regina Pi­rates Fri­day morn­ing. They fol­lowed up with a 4-0 win over the War­man Pan­thers be­fore los­ing 4-2 to Este­van to drop to the B Event. The Atom Bron­cos de­feated Lums­den 5-3 in the B quar­ter-fi­nal Satur­day evening. Their tour­na­ment came to an end Sun­day in a 3-0 loss to the Saskatoon Wild Light­ning in the semi-fi­nal.

The Atom Bron­cos have a break from their league sched­ule this weekend be­fore host­ing third-place Este­van (6-6-1) the fol­low­ing weekend to con­clude the reg­u­lar sea­son.
