Titans unbeaten in five games
The Swift Current Bert Legault – Royal LePage Titans concluded the month of January on a high note, unbeaten in their final five games.
They started the streak with a 2-0 win over the host Notre Dame Hounds. Mackenzie KirkpatrickSluth and Avery Wilson both scored with assists from Katey Hope and Trista Labarowski and Samantha Lemay earned the shutout with 20 saves.
The Titans followed up with a 9-0 win over the host Moose Jaw Warriors as Labarowski scored a hat trick. Hope and Braylen Veason each had a goal and an assist and Jadynn Jamieson added two assists. Wilson, Andrea Erlandson, Payton Schwan, and Tiffani Empey also scored with single assists from Shaylynda Hunter, Kelsey Barsness, and Kirkpatrick-Sluth.
The Titans and visiting Regina Ravens skated to a 0-0 draw on January 18. Samantha Lemay made 23 saves for Swift Current and Victoria Bourassa made 21 saves in the Regina goal.
The Titans won the rematch 2-1 the next day. Hope scored the game winner with 6:26 left in the second period to close the scoring. Cassidy Veason also scored to open the scoring. Labarowski assisted on both goals and Taylor Empey added a single helper.
The Titans finished off the month with a 3-0 win over the Diefenbaker Thunder in Cabri. They got powerplay goals from Hope and Jamieson and an insurance marker from Braylen Vea- son. Erika Vallee, Laborowski, and Wilson added assists and Lemay made 17 saves in the shutout, her eighth of the season to improve to 10-102 with a 2.05 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.
