Cyclones host Southern Rebels
The Cypress Cyclones sat idle in the Prairie Junior Hockey League after their only weekend game against Fort Knox was postponed due to poor driving conditions Saturday.
The Cyclones had snapped a 24-game losing streak one week earlier. Braedyn Lysak made 47 saves in a penalty filled 3-2 win over the Delisle Chiefs January 19. Delisle took a 2-0 lead before Carter Forsyth scored a powerplay goal for a 2-1 deficit after one period.
Wilson scored on the powerplay to even the score 2-2 heading in the third period. Brody Beckstand scored the game winner 4:53 into the third period to close the scoring.
Beckstand, Blake Sanderson, and Chris Bartlett all picked up assists. Forsyth, playing in his third game of the season, was in on every goal in a three-point effort in the Cyclones’ first win since October 22, 2013.
The Cyclones will host two games this weekend when the Southern Rebels visit the Maple Creek Arena. Saturday’s game begins at 8 p.m. and Sunday’s contest begins at 3 p.m.
