Cy­clones host South­ern Rebels

The Cy­press Cy­clones sat idle in the Prairie Ju­nior Hockey League af­ter their only weekend game against Fort Knox was post­poned due to poor driv­ing con­di­tions Satur­day.

The Cy­clones had snapped a 24-game los­ing streak one week ear­lier. Brae­dyn Lysak made 47 saves in a penalty filled 3-2 win over the Delisle Chiefs Jan­uary 19. Delisle took a 2-0 lead be­fore Carter Forsyth scored a powerplay goal for a 2-1 deficit af­ter one pe­riod.


Wil­son scored on the powerplay to even the score 2-2 head­ing in the third pe­riod. Brody Beck­stand scored the game win­ner 4:53 into the third pe­riod to close the scor­ing.

Beck­stand, Blake San­der­son, and Chris Bartlett all picked up as­sists. Forsyth, play­ing in his third game of the sea­son, was in on ev­ery goal in a three-point ef­fort in the Cy­clones’ first win since Oc­to­ber 22, 2013.

The Cy­clones will host two games this weekend when the South­ern Rebels visit the Maple Creek Arena. Satur­day’s game be­gins at 8 p.m. and Sun­day’s con­test be­gins at 3 p.m.
