Amanda Mitchell of Bracken was the grand prize winner of a $4,000 scholarship though Saskatchewan’s 2017 Agriculture Student Scholarship.

Mitchell’s video was selected as the winning entry in the province-wide scholarship competition. Scholarship applicants were required to share their own personal food story through a three minute video or a 1,000 word essay.

Her video told the story of a piece of bread and described her farm’s role in wheat production from seeding to harvest and beyond.

“There are so many misconceptions and myths surrounding agriculture,” Mitchell stated in a press release. “I wanted to be able to show how food comes from real farms with real people.”

The trio of Brayden Fraser of Churchbridge, Rachael Enns of Osler, plus Dena Lamb of Regina all received $2,000 runner-up scholarships.
